Believe me when we tell you that you're not going to find larger cloud adopters than us here at cmx499. I personally get hit up about this all the time. The biggest fear: security. Now normally people who raise this concern with me have their own computers set up with barely any security at all, making their machines a bigger risk times 100.
There are a number of keys to good security:
- Keep things separate (do you have all your files in one obvious folder and just have one password for everything)?
- Use encryption when necessary.
- Run constant scans.
- If you find anything strange, change it all.
Yesterday most of us woke up to this e-mail from Comixology:
Notice some of the steps: separate servers, encryption, routine scans, found something weird and changed it all. Users can't actually log into their accounts unless they change their passwords. A big pain in the ass. But a necessary one.
Nothing can ever be 100% secure. But unless proven otherwise yesterday's e-mail should give you more trust in Comixology and the cloud in general.
